ENGLISH: the party at Hollywood for the HMMA 2011 was a great fun. Our friend Corrado Rossi won in the New Age/Ambient category, for the 2nd consecutive year we TWM ended in the first positions (even if once again we didn't win) and we met many marvelous artists and new friends (such as Elisabetta Russo, who won the "Best Female Vocals" category with her absolutely incredible vocal performance), and many more!!! At the party were also present Katie Gill (The Mentalist), Smokey Robinson (standing ovation for his lifetime achievement presentation) with special appearances of Debra Messing (Grace of Will & Grace) and Leah Remini. ENGLISH: as we proudly announced, The Wimshurst's Machine are final nominee at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2011, with the track "Wind Sailer" as "best world music" category. Preparing to fly to California, the band decided to release (together with the friend Corrado Rossi) a Limited Edition CD just for the HMMA 2011: "Red Machine", with a great cover art by Daniele Scerra, that will be available just on HMMA and for a very short time also on band's store (at US$ 6.99!). ENGLISH: the 2010 did see TWM work on "Tokyo Rain" (a collection with the excellent Corrado Rossi who will be out before the summer from Astranova/Ambient Worlds, cover art by Antonio Seijas) and contemporarily also on "Breathe", a half way between a studio and a live album. Destinated to "Breathe" (who will be probably out before the end of 2011, we run a little late on it; cover art by Natalia Ghiani) there is a fresh recorded track (as many others destinated to "Breathe" is recorded "live", even if without the sound of the audience) named "Pharaoh of the Lower Egypt". ENGLISH: as our fans know well, many TWM members did live the experience of being victims of a flood (northern italy 1994 and 2000) and know well that there are times you need the help of the others to can go on. And again our planet did show us how fragile we are, with somethng so devastating that is shocking just to see it on TV. But there is people there, people who lost everything. So please, do not forget the people in Japan and help them to survive. Even just a small help, together with the others, may make the difference.

Ed in questi giorni il mondo ci ha dimostrato quanto può essere violento, con un disastro di proporzioni viste molto raramente combinando terremoto, tsunami ed altro ancora in modo così devastante che persino le sole immagini sono scioccanti. Ma sappiamo bene che al di la delle immagini c'è gente che ha perso tutto. Ed anche solo un piccolo aiuto può fare la differenza, se arriva da ciascuno di noi. ENGLISH: the quake & tsunami in Japan gave us terrible images of destruction and of the fragility of mankind (and man made things) confronted with the force of nature. The words of a song we recorded some time ago comes to our mind: "The jaded underworld was riding high, waves of steel hurled metal at the sky... When the flood comes, you have no home, you have no walls...  in the thunder crash, you're a thousand minds within a flash... don't be afraid to cry at what you see" (the lyrics of "Here Comes the Flood", a cover of the Peter Gabriel's song). These words are a lyrical witness of something that unfortunately happened many times, these last decades. As we were under a flood too in past (in year 2000 our region suffered hundreds of deaths), even if wasn't as bad as that tsunami wave, we have a clear idea of how it feels to be in a flood and our minds and hearts are with the people in Japan. ITALIANO: il terremoto ed il conseguente tsunami in Giappone ci hanno fornito immagini di distruzione e della fragilità dell'uomo confrontate con la forza, spesso spietata, spietata della natura. Ci tornano alla mente le parole di una canzone che abbiamo registrato qualche tempo fa: "E' inutile scegliere una direzione... L'inferno di giada galoppa alto, onde d'acciaio scagliano metallo contro il cielo... quando l'inondazione chiama non hai più casa, non hai più muri... nel fragore tonante sei mille menti, in un solo istante... non aver paura di piangere, per quel che vedi..." ("Here Comes the Flood", letteralmente "Qua viene il Diluvio", scritta originariamente da Peter Gabriel e di cui abbiamo registrato una cover nel 2010). Queste parole suonano profetiche, ma la realtà è che descrivono una situazione purtroppo accaduta sovente negli ultimi decenni. Essendo stati alluvionati a nostra volta, pur se la cosa fu su scala ben più ridotta (nel 2000 il Piemonte, dove viviamo, ne fu colpito, con centinaia di morti) sappiamo cosa si provi a trovarsi in un'alluvione. I nostri pensieri ed i nostri cuori sono con la popolazione del Giappone.
